View non-luxury but lifetime memorable experience staying in Malakati Homestay on chrislucky's travel map.

One of our guest shared his experience before and after staying Malakati homestay, lots of travel Tips worthy to share!!
Fiji's musical performance will welcome you after your landing in Nadi International Airport.

After going through the customs of Fiji, it is better to buy local mobile SIM card(Vodafone and Digicel are two main telecommunication carriers in Fiji, they do offer package service including fixed amount of cellular data and amount of local and international calling times) and Bus card at the airport.

In front of Nadi international airport, Due to the fact of lots of overseas tourists, Nadi International Airport is the biggest local airport compared with the airport in Suva. Fiji's capital. Also Nadi city is the popuar tourist city in Fiji.

Inside Nadi, there are many foreign tourist on the road of Nadi, from Nadi Int'l Airport to Nadi city, taxi takes about 15 minutes(Approx. 30 ~ 50 FJD), local bus takes about 30 minutes(Approx. 5 FJD).

Local market in Nadi city, there are various types of tropical fruits at quite cheap prices, such as mango, pine apple, grape, banana, mango, kasawa, breadfruit, coconut, graviola or soursop, avocado, yam, lemon and so on.

Every guests coming to visit Malakati village, the village tradition suggested that each group of guests need to bring at least 500g Kava, a type of local raw material of local coffee to village chief when they check-in. It is better to buy Kava from local market of mainland of Fiji, or it would be very expensive on island.

When first day arriving in Nadi, we suggest you stay in Nadi for the first night due to the reason that every day there is only one ferry which departs early morning from Nadi's Denareu bay. So if you flight land in Nadi airport later in morning, you will miss the ferry. But if you still want to come, airplane is another good choice, for more information, you can check my other posts related to transportation to Malakati Homestay. The Fiji Gateway hotel and its neighbor hotel called Tokatoka resort are two good options with reasonable price and clean rooms and its amenities.
